Palmetto Dunes Golf Course is a Resort, 54 hole golf facility located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The facility has three unique eighteen hole courses. They are The Arthur Hills Course, The George Fazio Course, and The Robert Trent Jones Course.
Palmetto Dunes Golf Course, The George Fazio Course first opened for play in 1974. The course was designed by George Fazio.
Many regard the George Fazio Course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort as the most challenging golf course in Hilton Head, SC. The George Fazio Course is ranked among the nation's top 100 courses.
The Fazio golf course demands a combination of long play and precise golf shots. From the 432-yard 1st hole to the 462-yard 18th hole, the Fazio course is the only par-70 golf course on Hilton Head Island. Its long par-4s challenge with bunkers and water hazards. The Fazio course plays 6,239 yards from the middle white tees.
The George Fazio Course was also built on the natural terrain, but it was designed like the more traditional courses. The small greens are severely undulating, and the fairways are tree lined. This course requires several shots over lagoons to reach some of the greens.

I especially like the back nine. Some beautiful holes, though overall, not as beautiful as the Robert Trent Jones course in Palmetto Dunes (that's the prettiest in that resort). Nevertheless, I like the Fazio course overall. It is long, and a number of the greens (especially on the front nine) are domed making them very difficult to hit and hold. Can be frustrating. You'll enjoy it overall though, and the pace of play is usually better than the Jones or Hills courses in Palmetto Dunes Resort. No driving range on which to warm up on though.

We were there for two months. The three courses at Palmetto Dunes all played well for $47 during Jan and for $55 in Feb. Well worth the visit. Played a total of 22 rounds at their three courses. This one is the flatest. Nice but not as scenic as the other two.

This course is just that bit stupidly long - the white tees are just long enough to make it less of a pleasure to play, and the Trent Jones is so much better. The course is not particularly attractive either. i would not recommend and not play it again.
